If your cat has stopped going to the bathroom on a regular basis, or if the stools are hard and small, this may be a sign that your cat has developed feline constipation. While usually not a life-threatening condition, it is uncomfortable for the cat and distressing for the owner. Yet rather than an expensive visit to the vet, consider trying some home remedies instead. They are inexpensive, and often quite affective, both in helping your cat and your wallet.

Constipated Cat Causes

Cats can get constipated for a variety of reasons, some dietary, and others medical. It can often be the case that they simply aren’t getting enough to drink. Too, blockages can develop when there diet is too low in fiber – a situation that can arise when a low quality, inexpensive cat food is being used.

Cats are fanatic about cleanliness, and if there litter box is dirty, will often refuse to go to the bathroom. When they do this, constipation is often the result. Another culprit could be that your cat has swallowed a hairball, which has proceeded to pass through the stomach into the intestinal tract, where it is sitting there undigested.

Medicines such as antibiotics can also result in the symptoms of constipation, which could include gas, looking elsewhere to relieve itself, and even weight loss. If your vet prescribed a medication which you think could be causing the problem, be sure and call your vet for advice.

Constipated Cat Home Remedies

1. Water:There are many effective ways to treat feline constipation, but the first one is also the simplest. Simply insure that your cat is getting enough water, and that the water dish is both clean and full at all times.

2. High Fiber Food: In addition to fresh, clean water, switch to a premium, high fiber cat food that is high in moisture.

3. Try Pumpkin or Oat Bran: Mix in some pumpkin and oat bran with the moist cat food; these foods are very high in fiber, and have a natural laxative effect for cats as well.

4. Broth: If these don’t do the trick, try feeding your cat milk or a warm meat broth.

5. Kitty Laxative: Add a half of teaspoon of any fiber based laxative; this will help stimulate the digestive track to eliminate whatever is causing the blockage, by sure to check with the vet first.

6. Vaseline: Take a teaspoon of Vaseline and add it some moist or wet cat food so that your cat ingests it. This should help to get the blockage through and relieve your poor cats constipation with ease.

In some cases however, the obstruction may be more severe. If you have used all of the above methods and your animal is still showing signs of constipation, it will probably be necessary to call the vet. They may take x-rays to determine if the blockage is severe enough to warrant more invasive procedures, but in almost all cases, a massage and enema will be as strong a treatment as is needed.

The vet will kindly massage your cat’s tummy, helping to loosen up and remove the blockage. He or she may also provide your cat an enema, which will serve to stimulate the colon into eliminating whatever is causing the blockage. Yet in the vast majority of cases, the above natural methods will help your pet find relief, without entailing a trip to the vet. If your pet is showing any of the above symptoms, you should begin home treatment for cat constipation immediately.

Head lice are a serious problem in many areas around the world, and even in first world countries lice and break out in schools or colleges. It can be annoying to try to find the best remedy to treat the head lice on your child’s head, and there are many remedies that simply don’t get the job done. There are a number of over the counter medications that you can use to try to treat your child’s head lice, but medications can often be more trouble than they are worth.

There are a number of home remedies to remove head lice that have proven to be effective, and they are incredibly easy to try. They also involve a large number of items that you can easily find around your house, and are easy to try on your child.

1. Use a Simple Lice Comb: By far the best way to get rid of head lice is simply using a pair of tweezers and a fine comb to comb them out of your child’s hair. This way requires no treatments or medications, but it can often be long and tedious to spend hours combing your child’s hair and removing the lice one by one with a pair of tweezers. However, even if you try using these other treatments, you will still have to comb over their hair and pick the larva out of their scalp with the tweezers, as most of these treatments only get rid of adult lice.

2. Tea Tree Oil: There are a number of herbal remedies that you can use to remove lice from your child’s hair, and these products usually feature tea tree oil and many other kinds of natural oils. These are usually not as effective as other treatments, but they are worth a try being all natural.

3. Suffocate Them: You can use mayonnaise, Vaseline, or olive oil on your child’s scalp as a remedy to get rid of head lice. These are applied and left on the scalp throughout the night, and washed out in the morning to ensure that any lice that have been smothered by the oily substances are thoroughly washed out of the hair. It is, however, a very messy and smelly procedure that is not guaranteed to work.

4. Use an Over the Counter Shampoo: Rid and Nix are two non-prescription shampoos that work well on kids. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Nix is currently the recommended treatment for head lice and is a simple choice to use at home.

5. Prescription Treatment: There is a hair lotion that contains a treatment that attacks head lice, and this prescription is easy to obtain. Ulfesia is the name of the treatment, and is supposed to work by attacking the respiratory spiracles of the head lice, which suffocates and kills them effectively. Ulfesia is a non-pesticide prescription treatment for head lice.It requires applying the lotion to the hair, leaving it in the hair for a few minutes, and washing the hair thoroughly. Once a week has past, it is required that the lotion is reapplied to ensure that all head lice have been killed.

Many head lice home remedy sites recommend using dog shampoo on your child’s head, due to the fact that the shampoo contains a high amount of anti-lice agents that will attack and kill head lice. This shampoo can actually damage the child’s scalp, and should never be applied to the head of a child.

The problem of an ant infestation is being faced by millions of people all over the world. After all, with as many as 20,000 species of ants, a situation like this can be easily predicted. Most of these infestations that people witness happen by accidents and there is not much damage that the ants can do to the household. However, nobody likes the sight of ants hovering around the house. Also, having them in the kitchen is unhealthy, unhygienic and irritating.

There are a lot of chemical methods of driving ants away from your house. But there are an increasing number of people who are choosing more humane methods of driving these ants away rather than killing them mercilessly. To make full use of the home remedies that work like wonders in driving the ants away, one must first figure out the source of entry of the ants into the house. Once this is done, the most common ingredient can be used on the ants-cinnamon. Very few people know that ground cinnamon Is very effective in helping against ant infestations. Black pepper is another simple yet helpful ingredient to stop ants from entering your house and to do away with the existing ones. Just put a small amount of black pepper powder on the gathering of ants and you shall be good.

For places where cinnamon or black pepper powder cannot be administered due to the problem of staining such as light colored cushions, couches or carpets, a homemade spray that consists of equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and water can be used. Ants cannot bear the smell of the vinegar and will disappear in a flash, making this one of the most fantastic home remedies for ants in the home. For people who want to deal with the root of the ant issue, destroying the nest of the ants completely sounds like a permanent option. This can be done by placing a sponge that is soaked in sugar syrup near the nest of the ants. Naturally, in not time you will find all the ants stuck to the sponge. Now, what you need to do is pour a solution that contains hot pepper along with hot water on the nest and the job is done.

Salt is another very popular ant infestation remedy. Placing borders made of salt on the door frames and window sills will prevent ants from entering your house. Even when ants have already entered, placing salt near their nest or on their gatherings will assist in removing them completely.
Bay leaves also make for an excellent home remedy to do away with the ants. An interesting trivia to know is that ants hate cucumbers. Thus placing cucumber peels in the paths of ants is a sure shot way of sending them out. While doing so, remember that the more bitter the peel, the more effective it is on the ants. Peppermint and cloves are two ingredients of the herb family that are known to work well when it comes to dealing with ant infestations. These have to simply be placed where ants are likely to be found and their smell is sure to drive the ants away. Other well known remedies for ants are marigold, tansy and lavender.

3. Acute ear pain

4. Earwax is softer and white in appearance

5. Hearing decreases

6. You can feel noises inside your ear; noises include humming sounds or buzzing sounds.

7. Ear swelling

8. Whitish or yellowish discharge coming from your ear

9. Ear skin feels sore and has a scaly appearance

10. Ear feels heavy or stuffy

Swimmers Ear Home Remedies

Treat swimmer’s ear with these swimmer’s ear home remedy cures.

1. Warm Water Bottle

Wrap the warm water bottle in a bath towel so you do not burn your skin.

2. Garlic:

Garlic is a strong antibacterial vice for body relief used to treat ear infections. Buy garlic oil and olive oil from a local health food establishment. Take a dish and grate cloves of garlic. You must cover the garlic cloves with the olive oil. Allow the garlic and olive oil mixture to set overnight. When the mixture marinates, apply three drops of garlic oil into your infected ear. Ensure to strain the garlic so the pieces will not get into your ear.

3. Baby Oil:

Take a pot and place small amounts of baby oil in the pot. Ensure that the baby oil is warm enough to place in your infected ear using your eyedropper. Grab a cotton ball and place it around your infected ear to avoid baby oil drainage.

4. Hair Dryer:

Place the hair dryer on the warmest setting in the infected ear when water is trapped inside of it. Move the hair dryer in a “side-to-side” motion to evaporate the water away from your ear.

5. Rubbing Alcohol and Distilled White Vinegar:

Combine distilled white vinegar and rubbing alcohol together to treat swimmer’s ear. Tilt your head and place two drops of this mixture into your ear with an eyedropper. Tug your earlobe to ensure the mixture has reached your ear canal. Your head must be titled for a few more minutes so the liquid can escape. After the few minutes have elapsed, sit up straight, tilt your infected ear towards your shoulder. You will then hold a piece of tissue on your ear to get the excess liquid.

What is the Fear of Flying

The fear of flying is an unwanted involuntary irrational fear to the thought or the certainty of air travel.

It seems that approximately 40% of the population has a mild to moderate fear of flying. Millions of people are actually scared to death of flying and for many just the mere thought of being on a plane or in the air leaves them with panic or dread. For these people the fear has turned into such a severe phobia that it has hindered their lives and made air travel unbearable. If you are one of these people, then you are not alone and the good news is that there are a number of methods that will help you overcome your fears of flying and hopefully the information provided here will lead you on your way to feeling better and becoming fear free.

Understanding Your Fear of Flying

Everyone’s reason for having a fear stems from something whether we can actually identify it or not. The first question to ask yourself is how did it begin? Can you remember the very first time you felt fearful about flying and what happened that may have caused you trauma? Perhaps it wasn’t even an event at all, perhaps it was just a memory or bad dream; even some affected deeply by 9/11 have developed fears about flying. Some people have just gradually become uncomfortable flying, and no particular event seems to have caused their problem. Missing family, stress, even age can play a factor into this fear of flying.

There are also a number of reasons we may be afraid to fly that actually have nothing to do with flying itself, but have to do with other related phobias and fears such as; claustrophobia- the fear of being closed it and having no way out, the fear of heights- acrophobia is another widespread cause, emetophobia- the fear of vomiting is another very common fear for those flying. Many people get motion sickness and when an airplane goes through turbulence or bumpy weather this may cause an individual to become sick and vomit. This fear of throwing up can turn into a phobia especially for those that have repeated experiences like this on a plane.

Another extremely common fear about flying comes from the loss of control one has while onboard a plane. It might actually seem odd for some people to just sit back and relax and let someone else handle the traveling and care giving. Many of these people (myself included) would actually feel better in the pilot’s cockpit- perhaps not flying but just having that visual of other people in control helps. The lack of control can cause anxiety, tenseness, stress, panic attacks, and fear thus leading to flying phobias. Looking back on the reasons one can become afraid to fly, it stands to reason the large number of people that are afraid. However, the good news is that these fears can be controlled, they can be rationalized down to the point where they no longer exist, and they can be eliminated, for good.

Flying is Safe!

Do you ever notice that when you have a fear of something and you want to learn more about it, and you tend to be drawn in by the negative and not the positive? Those that are afraid to fly often look for data to support their anxieties. They tend to disregard articles that talk about safety and statistics, and how airplanes have drastically improved over the years, and that flying is safe, etc. Instead, they hunt for information discussing any possible danger or threat in the industry. This is a method in which people create and multiply their own discomfort. They continue to gather evidence that encourages their fear which just leads them to support their fears rather than discount them.

The fact is that flying IS safe and danger is rare in commercial aviation. Flying is safer than driver, than taking a bus, a train, or even a boat, yet because people become frightened while flying, it makes them feel as though it is unsafe. If you can understand how things work then it can also help to eliminate fear. Figure out which part of the flight bothers you and research how that works, whether it’s the wing flaps, the take off, in flight turbulence, rain, etc. Understanding how it works and that it is all normal will provide you relief and prove to you that transportation by air is safe and efficient.

What It Takes To Overcome The Unthinkable

Our mind is a powerful tool and it can easily lead us to thinking in an incorrect fashion when placed in an uncomfortable or unfamiliar setting.
Any time you face your fears, such as aviophobia, you may experience some symptoms of distress or panic. If you experienced unpleasant feelings on a recent flight, it wouldn’t be surprising, to start questioning how your next flight might fair. Ironically, the more you worry about such problems, the greater the likelihood that they will occur.

However we as human beings have the ability to take charge of our own thoughts and retrain our minds to overcome any obstacle to be a success at anything, including conquering our biggest fears!

Therapy for fear of flying

Many people actually label themselves as having very generalized anxiety when it comes to phobias such as flying. But there are different symptoms and different methods used to cure a fear of flying.

Behavioral therapies for a fear of flying such as Cognitive therapy and Systematic desensitization work for those may have had an unpleasant experience aboard a plane and can remember the actual event or memory in which the fear was developed. By working to desensitize that first fear through behavioral therapies, reduces the fear itself eventually eliminating it. Sometimes these therapies include practice and then eventual boarding of a plane with or without a therapist repeated times until the fear is desensitized and no longer there.

Hypnotherapy generally involves regression, uncovering the event, the emotions around the event, and helping the client understands the source of their fear. Many times the fear will reveal itself in which it may have nothing to do with flying at all. This therapy can work great for those that just cannot understand why they are afraid to fly or can’t understand the memories associated with the fear and flying.

There are a number of online programs for eliminating flying phobias such as the fear of flying hypnosis CD, SOAR- the DVD and complete fear of flying program, flying forums to get support in, and of course the multitude of flying phobia video to help you understand flying, and reduce your fears.

Support is another method of therapy for many and an important one. The more you talk about your fear, the more you OWN it. Don’t let it lead you, let you lead it until its gone. Its OK to tell people you are afraid- tell your friends, your family, the air steward, the pilot, your dog, your kids, everyone. Don’t be embarrassed by it, don’t worry about it, just accept it and let others accept that you have it and more often than not, just telling people about your fear will reduce it.

Medication For Flying Fears

Medication may be used in combination with the above treatments or alone and for those with severe panic attacks it can be a true benefit. For individuals experiencing anxiety due to a phobia, there are a number of different psychoactive medications such as benzodiazepines or other relaxant/depressant drugs that can be used to control the attacks or make others sleepy so they can rest while on board. These medications need to used under the advisement of a physician so speak with them first about your fear and then ask about way to eliminate or reduce your fear with the use of therapy and medications.

Creating a favicon to put on your site is an essential part of making it as effective and noteworthy as possible. A favicon, which is the shortened version of “favorites icon,” is the icon that appears next to your website’s URL in a web browser or on a bookmark. It’s a way to give your site an identity, allowing those who come onto the site to be able to quickly know at a glance where they are. The favicon helps create a sense of continuity for your WordPress site, and luckily for you favicons are easy to create and put in.

It’s very easy to create a favicon, and there are a variety of methods you can use. One great way to do it is by using any graphic editing software that you already have on your computer. A favicon can even be created in a basic program like MS Paint, and can be finished in a matter of minutes. You want to create an icon that matches the rest of your site, perhaps featuring a mascot, logo or image that represents your cause, product, blog, or whatever is the premise of your website. The favicon will be a part of your brand, and therefore needs to match the rest of the site’s color scheme and style.

You can also use online services to create a good favicon, as there are many that are created just for the purpose (Dynamic Drive has an easy one). They are easy to use, quick, and completely free. Some allow you to choose a larger image off your computer and turn it into a recognizable icon; others let you draw your own icon.

As far as the technical creation of the favicon goes, your image needs to be exactly 16 by 16 pixels. You have very little space, but it can still be effective if you make the favicon properly. Save your favicon as favicon.ico so you can upload it properly to your WordPress site.

To install your new favicon to your blog or site you will need a FTP client, which you will most likely already have been using for customizing and changing your site. Using the FTP program upload the favicon.ico file into the main folder of your site’s theme. Put a copy of it into your website’s main directory in order to have it appear on feed readers and RSS’s. Once you have done all this, your favicon should appear in its proper place at the top of the screen.

If your favicon doesn’t appear right away restart your internet browser and clear the cache files, and it should show up. Restart once more if it hasn’t worked. Your favicon will appear.

If you want a site that is memorable and full of continuity then a favicon is essential. It only takes a few moments to create and upload a favicon, and it’s worth it knowing that your whole image is complete and that people will remember you and your service better.

In today’s world of what we hear called “celebrity obsession”, ever increasing attention is paid to appearance. What you wear, how you have your hair and make-up, your fragrance, shoes, handbags, the list goes on and on. If you do make a fashion faux-pas, it can be quickly remedied.

If, on the other hand, you are one of the millions of people who suffer from acne, it can be a nightmare. It can shatter your confidence, and completely erode your self-esteem. Acne can be unsightly, sore, and uncomfortable. Sometimes it leaves scarring as a permanent reminder.
Nowadays, information is available from numerous sources, books, television, magazines and of course the Internet. While there are medical treatments to help acne, most of us would much prefer a natural remedy.

You have to establish some rules or you will go dizzy with all the information. Look for recipes, which contain things you have in the house or garden most of the time. There are loads of recipes to help the problem of acne that contain natural ingredients. They should not cost the earth either. Then, should a sudden outbreak occur, something that worked for you before should be easy to make again as you will already have the ingredients.

Here are just a few home remedies for acne that I found containing natural ingredients:

* Natural Plant Leaves: An application of raspberry, strawberry or blackberry leaves, which have been boiled for a few minutes, applied to the skin, should help relieve the itching.

* Herbal Tea: Take 2-3 used teabags and mix with dried basil, when cool, apply to the skin for 10-20 minutes. Rinse with cold water.

* Egg Yolk Mask: Another one I found is to separate an egg, apply the yolk to the skin, and repeat this process a three or four times a week. Take some natural yogurt and mix with oatmeal, then apply to the skin.

* Herbal Paste: Another couple of mixes I found are making a paste of orange peel, honey and cinnamon powder.

* Strange Bust Easy- Toothpaste Mix: This mix consists of limes, salt and toothpaste, apply to the skin, leave for 15-20 minutes.

* Sugar & Lemon Scrub: Lemons are great for a variety of reasons as they contain natural anti bacterial properties, Alpha Hydroxy acids and work great for a variety of skin conditions. Just mix fresh lemon juice with organic sugar (Brown or white works fine) and scrub into skin. A mini facial with a fraction of the cost.

* Vinegar: Natural apple cider vinegar will help balance out the PH in your skin and help control acne and even prevent acne from occurring. Just use a cotton ball and wipe your face with the vinegar.

* Honey Mask: Natural Honey is great for acne prone skin. It works as an antiseptic and helps to control acne break outs and helps to clear out clogged pores. Honey is a great natural remedy alternative to Tetracycline which many use for acne. Just take the natural honey and smear it over the face (yes its sticky and takes some time getting used to, but it works!) and leave on for 15-20 min. every day and you will see your acne clear up quickly!

There are loads of good natural and relatively low cost recipes out there waiting to be tried. Just think of the fun you could have.

An alternative to mixes, are drinks, spearmint tea, one cup, twice a day or a glass of wheat grass once a day. Even something as simple as drinking lots of water, which flushes toxins from the body could be extremely beneficial for acne. A really simple idea I found is to saturate lettuce leaves in water, then use the water to rinse over your face and hands.

You should also have a good look at your diet, foods with vitamins C and E in them contain antioxidants, which are said to rejuvenate the skin, prevent new scarring and fade old scarring. Most fruits and vegetables contain vitamin C. Vitamin E can be found in nuts or sunflower seeds.
Fish are one of the best sources of vitamin E, especially sardines, tuna and salmon. If you don’t already, try steaming your fish and vegetables, not only does it help retain those precious vitamins, they taste better too!

Night sweats (hyperhidrosis) can occur for many different reasons; the symptoms are defined as any excess sweating occurring during the night where the person is literally drenched in sweat, to the point that both the clothes and the bed linen have to be changed. It is something that women tend to suffer from during their menopause.

It is also linked with tuberculosis, inflammation of the heart, osteomylitis, which is the inflammation of the bones due to infection, HIV and even abscesses (depending where they are) to name a few, but not necessarily particular to women. It can also be an early symptom for cancer, most commonly lymphoma.

It has also been seen in those with hypoglycaemia, so as you can see, there is a common theme here, hormonal disorders, which means that although most treatments are aimed at women, they can work for men just as well.

Certain medications can cause night sweats. Among the chief culprits are antidepressants – both monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Prescription drugs such as Lexapro, Paxil, Celexa, Zoloft, Luvox, Prozac, and Cymbalta can all cause night sweats.

There is a wide range of natural remedies that can help with this problem:
• Chamomile tea helps cool and soothe
• Peppermint tea which can cool you and also your heat-generating track
• Peppermint in the form of an essential oil dabbed on the back of the neck or the soles of the feet may help but care must be taken, as too much will have a wakening effect

One thing that is controversial but popular is black cohosh, a traditional herbal medicine, which belongs to the buttercup family. Its use can be traced back to Indigenous Americans who call it “squawroot.”

There can be some side effects such as indigestion, nausea, and vomiting to watch for and should never be given to children, however it is an effective herb. Should such occur, it would be better to stop using this and try something else. Also, do not try this remedy if you are allergic to aspirin or salicylates. Salicylates are derived from the bark of the willow; it is known to be a colorless, crystalline organic acid. A vitamin regimen, consisting of Vitamin E, magnesium, and a niacin-free Vitamin B complex, may also help to alleviate symptoms. Before starting any vitamin or herb regimen, women should take the precaution of consulting their doctors. A couple more herbal remedies to try are schizandra berry and white peony root, although the results with these seem to be only moderately useful.

One very simple thing that can be done to help is to place a cool damp washcloth on your wrists, or put your wrists under the cool tap. This can be effective because this is where your veins gather so you will be cooling the blood, which then moves on. When this is done for a few minutes, it will cool the body.

Another simple thing you can do is wear lighter, more breathable fabrics especially for your nightwear and bed linen.

If you can afford it, there are iontophoresis machines, which have been scientifically proven to help with hyperhidrosis. However, the machine may prove to be cost prohibitive for some people.

A cheaper alternative is to invest in a couple of bedside fans, which will help cool the air flowing around you and subsequently should make things more comfortable. In fact, it may be an idea to try a mixture of treatments. Don’t do this all at once, because if you do, it may prove difficult to ascertain just which are having any effect. Introduce things one at a time and see what combination works for you.

A sinus infection, also known as sinusitis, is a very common infection. When a fungus or virus grows within the nasal passage, it causes swelling and inflammation. As the swelling becomes worse, it blocks air cavities and prevents normal drainage.

Symptoms

There are many different symptoms that you can experience with a sinus infection. These could include:

• Sinus headache
• Fever
• Sore throat
• Cough
• Tenderness in the face
• Sinus pressure
• Felling stuffy
• Bad Breath

You may experience one or more of these symptoms if you have an infection. Because many of the symptoms relate to cold or flu, people often mistake a sinus infection for one or the other.
If you notice that you have a nasal discharge that is cloudy or discolored, it is sign you may have an infection, as opposed to a simple cold. If you have tried over-the-counter medications and they do not seem to help, that is a good sign that you have an infection.

Causes of a Sinus Infection

There are several different causes of the sinus infection. A few of these are:

• A common cold
• Hay Fever
• Pollutants in the air
• Dust Particles
• Fungal Infection (common Black Mold)
• Acid Reflux

These are just a few of the examples that could cause your sinus infection. If you have had a cold or the flu, and your sinuses do not seem to feel any better even after your cold is gone, there is a good chance that your nasal passages are inflamed and infected.

Home Remedy Cures

Usually, your doctor is going to want to prescribe antibiotics as a cure, but there are sinus infection home remedies that can begin to cure your sinus infection as well. Often, you will find that you will already have the ingredients at home, so you do not even have to make a trip out.

To cure a sinus infection, you need to clean out the nasal passage so the membranes can heal properly. In order to do this, there are several methods that you can try at home.

• Using nasal irrigation, mix ¼ tsp of salt with warm water. Using a bulb syringe, fill with the mixture and gently squeeze while breathing in the liquid. This will clean out the mucus and reduce the inflammation.
• Another option is the wonderful spice, ginger. You need to grate ¼ cup of natural ginger and boil in a pint of water. After it simmers for approximately 15 minutes, soak a washcloth in it, wring out and place over your face. Breathe in to loosen the mucus and start your nasal passage draining. You may have to do this twice.
• You can also try grape seed extract. This can be taken in pill form, 50 milligrams, up to three times a day. Grape seed extract will reduce the swelling in your nasal passage and help relieve the pressure in your head as well.

You will find that there are other home remedies that you can try as well. The few mentioned here are known to work and reduce pain while curing infection.

If you start to notice veins that pop up just under your skin, there is a great chance that you have Varicose Veins. These are veins that are hard, swollen and even tangled looking.
You may notice that they start out as small bluish veins that work their way to the surface of the skin. These are called spider veins. They are very common especially in those that work standing up for a long time.

Causes of Varicose Veins

There are different causes of Varicose Veins as well as levels of severity. Poor circulation and blood flow are just the beginning. As your blood flows through your veins down your body, it is supposed to make its way back up to your heart.

When veins are blocked or cannot push the blood through, they swell and can become painful thus Varicose Veins appear.

Age and gender play a role in your chances of varicose veins showing up at some point and time. Pregnancy, especially if there is more than one is a big reason why women are susceptible. When you throw in menopause and medications to control pregnancy, you are adding fuel to the fire.

For men, it is usually a matter of working on their feet for long periods of time. Construction jobs and other types of related employment can make the condition worse. You will also find that men who body build to increase muscle will be greatly affected as they age.

Home Remedies as a Cure for Varicose Veins

Once you visit with your doctor and have been diagnosed the treatment he may prescribe is going to be based upon the severity of your case. But, there are several home remedies that you can use that will not only treat your Varicose Veins but that can also relieve the pain you feel as well.

•	Oils are great for this condition especially rosemary oil. By massaging this into the trouble spots you can shrink the veins and release some of the pressure.
•	Soaking in a hot bath is great to relax but throw some Epsom salts into the tub and you have just created a medicated treatment.
•	Change from the inside out by changing your eating habits for a healthier body.
•	Use a cold compress to reduce the pain and swelling.
•	Exposing your legs to the sunlight is also an excellent way of treating these veins as well.

It is important to know that treatment needs to start from the inside out as well. If you are overweight, which plays a big role in Varicose Veins, getting in shape can make a big difference. Exercise will not only help to reduce them but make you healthier as well.

The proper type of diet is also necessary. Foods that contribute to poor vein health is:

•	Foods with a lot of starch
•	Caffeine
•	Alcohol
•	Sugar
•	Foods with a lot of flour

Simply by watching your diet and getting the proper exercise, you can reduce your chances of developing Varicose Veins. Keep your legs healthy and beautiful.
